Prof. Yoon’s research group will focus on understanding and harnessing microbial reactions to find solutions to various environmental problems including global warming and chemical contamination. The research group seeks solutions to reduction of greenhouse gas (CH4 and N2O) emission from natural and built environments by understanding and manipulating the microbial C- and N-cycles. Furthermore, they will investigate possible solutions to utilize the emitted greenhouse gases for beneficial purposes. In parallel with these research projects, Prof. Yoon’s research group will also carry out research on bioremediation of various organic and inorganic contaminants including chlorinated solvents.
