Areas of research in the structural dynamics laboratory include dynamics of structures, soil-structure interaction analysis, safety and reliability of structures, system identification, damage assessment, and structural health monitoring. Recently, efficient infinite elements have been developed to model the far-field soil region in the soil-structure interaction analysis. Moreover, smart sensors, such as PZT sensors and fiber optical sensors and sensor-network have been studied for structural health monitoring and damage assessment. Especially, joint researches on structural health monitoring using wireless measurement system with Michigan Univ., Univ. of Illinois at Chicago, and Lehigh Univ.m in U.S. have been carried out.
