CEE Graduate Life
Graduate students at KAIST CEE can enhance their research skills and knowledge through various international exchange programs, overseas training programs, and field trips, as well as developing a sense of community among CEE members through track-specific athletic competitions.

The annual KKHTCNN Symposium on Civil Engineering was established to exchange research and knowledge in Civil engineering among members of seven Asian institutions: Kyoto University (Japan), KAIST (Korea), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong), Tongji University (China), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), National University of Singapore (Singapore), and the National Taiwan University (Taiwan). Each year, more than 20 graduate students from KAIST CEE attend the KKHTCNN symposium.

The annual RESD program was established to exchange research and knowledge in Environmental sustainability among members of seven Asian institutions. RESD provides an opportunity for Doctoral students in the Environmental engineering track to improve their research capabilities and experience international cooperation. Each year, two representative students from KAIST CEE attend the RESD program to enhance their global leadership.

The annual KKNN Symposium on Environmental Engineering was established to exchange research and knowledge in Environmental engineering among members of four Asian institutions: Kyoto University (Japan), KAIST (Korea), National University of Singapore (Singapore), and the National Taiwan University (Taiwan). Each year, around 10 graduate students from KAIST CEE attend the KKNN symposium.

Regular field trips supported by the Smart City Program allow students to experience what they have learned in the classroom and to help them prepare necessary skills for their lives after graduation.

KAIST CEE is divided into structural and geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, and construction IT-urban transportation tracks. Each track holds a track-specific athletics competition where all members can have fun participating in various sports activities such as volleyball, basketball, and football. The athletic competitions provide a healthy way for CEE members to make acquaintances and communicate.

Every fall, the Department holds climbing events to various mountains in Korea to foster a sense of unity and community among members and to promote physical strength.
Graduate student life in CEE is full of meaningful and fun things. We have advanced research facilities and active exchange of opinions by leading researchers for satisfactory research results. Exciting department activities and free vibe improve quality of our life. Our students’ faces were filled with all smiles. KAIST CEE always supports your dreams.
I’m a Ph.D. student studying Environmental engineering in Sustainable Water Environment Engineering and Technology (SWEET) lab. I’m interested in providing potable water and water reuse using membrane process as well as in investigating membrane fouling mechanisms and their mitigation strategies. In my spare time, I like to ride a bike while listening to rhythmic songs.
I’m a Ph.D. candidate in Transmatics Lab who is majoring in transportation engineering. Her research focuses on traffic simulation and driver’s behavior planning. The Transmatics Lab provides various opportunities to broaden my insights by participating in international conferences, educational programs, and international collaborative research. Outside the lab, she enjoys her free time to maintain a work-life balance.
